Breakerless-SE Electronic Ignition Conversion
Breakerless-SE™ Electronic Ignition Conversion. E-Z to install!

The Breakerless-SE™ (Part #38131) single wire ignition kit is designed to convert all 1957-74 GM / Delco V8 distributors, equipped with window-style distributor cap, screw-on type rotor, stock coil, and single or dual points, to solid-state electronic ignition. These maintenance-free modules will insure your car maintains its maximum performance. By utilizing a fully integrated trigger and power module, the entire kit fits completely under your distributor cap.

How is this electronic ignition conversion kit differ from the kits made by Pertronix™, MSD™ or anyone else's system? Although Lectric Limited did not develop the first electronic ignition conversion, we have developed what we feel is the best. Lectric Limited offers the ONLY electronic ignition conversion kit that has no additional wires protruding from the distributor, only the original point's wire. The result is a reliable, state-of-the-art ignition system with an absolutely stock appearance.

Which vehicles can use the Breakerless-SE™? This kit is designed to be used with all 1957 to 1974 GM / Delco V8 breaker point type distributors having the following criteria: 1) Windowed-style distributor cap. 2) Screw-on type rotor (not the push-on type rotor). 3) Stock ignition coil (or coil with stock specifications).

What does the Breakerless-SE™ Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit include? Lectric Limited's Breakerless-SE™ single wire ignition conversion kit comes with everything you need to complete your installation. Kit includes: ignition module,  2-pc. vane assembly, all necessary mounting hardware, screwdriver and complete step-by-step installation instructions. Easily installs in 15-20 minutes! You do not need to remove your distributor!

What are the benefits of installing a Breakerless-SE™ in my vehicle? The benefits you'll realize by installing the Breakerless-SE™ include: Higher ignition voltage. More accurate timing. Longer spark plug life. Increased fuel economy. Faster starts. Improved performance. The most obvious, and important benefit however, is not having to change or adjust your points and condenser ever again!

What do you mean by "single wire operation"? The Breakerless-SE™ requires only one wire to operate, the original points wire. This not only simplifies installation, but preserves the stock appearance of the original factory wiring and distributor. Similar ignition conversion systems on the market use two or three wires to operate, making installation more difficult, and creating a "non-stock" appearance in your engine compartment.

Do I need to remove my distributor to install this kit? No. Unlike many other conversion kits, the Breakerless-SE™ may be installed without the need to remove the distributor from the engine.

Will it work with my tachometer? The Breakerless-SE™ is compatible with factory and aftermarket tachometers. A tach filter should not be required. However, if one was originally installed in the vehicle it should be left in place. Some low cost, imported and reproduction tachs do a poor job of triggering from the coil's (-) signal and may require additional filtering to prevent erratic or inaccurate readings. The tachometer manufacturer should be contacted to resolve these types of problems.

Will it work with a mechanical advance distributor? Sure will. The Breakerless-SE™ will work with either a vacuum advance or mechanical advance distributor.

How rugged or durable is the Breakerless-SE™? The exterior of the module is molded from high-performance/high-temperature thermoplastic (PPS), making it impervious to heat (up to 5000 F), solvents or acid. The electronics inside are potted/sealed with thermally conductive epoxy protecting them from vibration and moisture. We are so confident in the construction quality of the Breakerless-SE™ that we offer a 3-year warranty.

What are some of the safety features of the Breakerless-SE™? 1) It's polarity protected against accidental reverse battery installation. 2) It will withstand battery jump starts and will operate down to 6 volts to insure cold weather starting. 3) It's designed to shut off 1 second after the engine stops. This feature protects the coil and ignition should the key be accidentally left in the ON position.

You state that the Breakerless-SE™ requires a "window-style" distributor cap. Why is it required? A window-style distributor cap is not required, per se, but this type of cap does signify the specific type of distributor needed for the Breakerless-SE™ to fit & function properly. (These distributors have the correct housing to allow proper vane assembly rotation, proper breaker mounting plate, and screw-on rotor.) So rather than asking people what type of distributor they have (which many people don't know), it is easier to ask if they have a window-style distributor cap.

Can the Breakerless-SE™ be used in aftermarket- type distributors? This conversion is designed to be used with 1957-1974 GM/Delco, AMC or Jeep V8 breaker point-type distributors (with windowed-style distributor caps). It will not work with aftermarket distributors (ie. Accel, Mallory, MSD, Pertronix, etc.)

What type of ignition coil can be used with the Breakerless-SE™? This conversion is designed for use on original or restored-to-original vehicles. Consequently, the Breakerless-SE™ is compatible with ALL original/stock GM Delco Remy coils. These original-type coils are high-inductance and have a resistance of 1.2 to 2.1 ohms on the primary winding of the coil (measurement taken from threaded post -to- threaded post) when coil is at room temperature. Many (but not all) aftermarket or "hi-performance" coils are compatible as well, as long as the resistance on the primary winding of the coil (measurement taken from threaded post -to- threaded post) is within the range of 1.2 to 2.1 ohms when coil is at room temperature.  Coils with a very low resistance on the primary winding (say, 0.9 ohms) should not be used with the Breakerless-SE™ kit.

Do I need to remove the ballast resistor or resistance wire from my vehicle when installing the Breakerless-SE™? Because the Breakerless-SE™ was designed for original or restored-to-original vehicles, you MUST use a ballast resistor (if your vehicle was originally equipped with one), or resistance wire (if your vehicle originally has this wire built into your dash harness or engine harness). Do NOT remove your ballast resistor, or remove the resistance wire. This will eventually damage the Breakerless-SE™ module and void your warranty.

NOTE: The Breakerless-SE™ is designed to be used with a stock/original type distributor & coil. It will not fit or work with aftermarket distributors (i.e. Accel, Mallory, MSD, Pertronix, etc.) and will not work with any MSD Blaster coils.

Legal for use on emission controlled vehicles.

Now you can upgrade your alternator/generator and not have to cut or splice into your original wiring harness!

This simple plug-in conversion kit allows the use of a Delco-Remy 10SI or 12SI internally regulated alternator in place of the original "DN" (or Delcotron) series, externally regulated alternator. "SI" series alternators were commonly used on 1975-85 G.M. vehicles (or 1969-86 Corvettes). Two ways to help identify a 10SI or 12SI alternator is the V-belt pulley and 2 horizontal male-blade terminal connector (terminals typically labeled 1 & 2) present on the backside of the alternator.  Note that the alternator case and pulley-type can vary among models of alternators.

In addition to including the alternator adapter, this kit also includes the 4-terminal voltage regulator bypass module to eliminate your external voltage regulator. This bypass module simply plugs into your wiring harness, where your voltage regulator was previously connected.

1955-57 Chevrolet Full-Size Fuse Panel Conversion

1955 1956 1957 Chevy Fuse Panel Conversion Kit
1955-57 Chevrolet Passenger Car Fuse Panel Kit / Conversion. (click to enlarge)

If your 1955-57 full-size Chevy fuse panel is damaged or missing, finding an original replacement can be difficult. Or, if you're looking to "upgrade" your glass fuses with modern ATO-style fuses, there weren't many options for you in the past. In either situation, Lectric Limited now offers a solution! This fuse panel conversion was specifically designed for tri-five Chevys to replace the stock glass fuse panel with an updated ATO fuse block.

For 1955 full-size Chevy vehicles (use part #37138), the original fuse panel was located on the firewall, at the base of the steering column. This location cannot be used for this replacement fuse panel, as there is conflict with the steering column. Although this new panel can be mounted in many different locations, we recommend that it be located in the driver’s side kick panel just above the air vent. For 1956-57 full-size Chevy vehicles (use part #37139), the original fuse panel was located high under the dash, to the left of the steering wheel. Although this new panel can be mounted in many different locations, it is recommended that it be located in the original fuse panel location.

The mounting bracket supplied with this kit has several offsets to allow complete flexibility in its positioning. We recommend mounting this fuse panel assembly in a location that allows the most clearance around the panel. We suggest using the mounting bracket as a template for drilling the bracket mounting screw holes. A schematic for connecting additional wires into the “cage clamp” terminal block is also included.

Courtesy Light Delay-Off Module Kit, Part #510197. (click to enlarge)

Did you always want to add a turn-off delay to the courtesy lights on your classic car? Well, we have the solution! Our delay timer allows your courtesy lights to remain luminated for a pre-selected amount of time, or until the ignition switch is turned on. At the end of the timed delay, your courtesy lights will gradually fade to dark, just like they do on modern vehicles. An adjustment knob allows delay time selection from 0 to 60 seconds of delay.

To install this kit, connect the Black wire to a chassis ground. Splice the White wire to an existing vehicle courtesy light ground. The existing courtesy light ground wire will come from an existing door jamb switch or the headlight switch directly to an existing courtesy light. Splice the Pink wire to any ignition switch's "IGN" or "ACC" connection. This connection is necessary to deactivate the courtesy light delay function when the ignition switch is turned on to prevent the courtesy lights from remaining on when you begin driving. Connect the Orange wire to any 12V fused battery power source.

Includes mounting bracket and detailed installation instructions.
