Keeping your vehicle factory-original?
If you want to rewire your vehicle to the way it left the factory, whether your vehicle will be a "driver" or judged at a car show, the choice is simple.  Our Original Design Series™ wiring is the choice for you.

Our Original Design Series™ wiring harnesses are made to exact factory specifications using the original factory blueprints. They are "correct" in every way. These wiring harnesses are necessary for: owners who want an authentically restored, show-quality vehicle, those who want to replace their old original wiring, or those who want to add original, factory-installed options. These harnesses are completely assembled, "plug & play" - ready to install.  You will not have to cut any wires, crimp any terminals, or make any modifications to the harnesses.

You can also purchase additional wiring harnesses if your vehicle had factory-installed (not dealer installed or aftermarket) options.  For example: air conditioning, power windows, rear window defogger, power top, etc.).  These additional harnesses will plug directly into the main harnesses as they did at the factory.

With our Original Design Series™ wiring, you can either rewire the vehicle one harness at a time, rewire a specific area of the vehicle (for example, the engine compartment), or what we recommend, completely rewire the vehicle bumper-to-bumper by purchasing all the harnesses at one time; and saving 10% off your entire purchase!

Keeping your vehicle factory-original (with specific modifications)?
If you want to retain most of your vehicles originality but want to make some update modifications, specifically:
■ Are you moving the alternator to the opposite side?
■ Are you replacing an externally regulated alternator/generator with an updated internally
   regulated alternator?
■ Are you adding GM HEI?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions, we may have an easy solution.  Due to the popularity of these updates, for some makes/model cars, we offer a modified wiring harness, conversion wiring harness, or conversion device to accommodate these updates.

In this situation, we recommend that you purchase our Original Design Series™ wiring and the appropriate conversion product(s).  Please consult our online catalog to check availability on your specific make & model vehicle, or call our technical support department for more information.

Keeping your vehicle factory-original (with slight modifications)?
If you want to retain most of your vehicles originality but want to make more modifications than those listed above, you can either start with all-original wiring by choosing Original Design Series™ wiring and making the necessary modifications yourself, or , choosing the Custom Update Series™ wiring (as described below).

For faster, easier installation, we recommend staring with an electrically sound foundation by choosing the Original Design Series™ wiring, rewire the entire vehicle as-original, then making the necessary modification yourself. Keep in mind that many of the added aftermarket devices you purchase (like gauges, lighting, electric fans, etc.) come with their own wiring.  All you need to do is to tap into your wiring harness to add those devices.

But the question to be addressed is, What is meant by "Customize"?

Ultimately, that will be for you to decide.  But here are some guidelines:

If you've answered yes to the above questions, than our Custom Update Series™ wiring system is an option for you.  But please read the information below to be certain.

Since the Custom Update Series™ Wiring Systems are designed for upgraded/modified cars, these wiring systems:
■ will not support point-type ignition system and can only be used with an HEI or sold-state
   ignition system.
■ will not support ANY ammeters, but will support voltmeters.
■ will not support a stock voltage regulator or SE series alternator, but will support SI series
   internally regulated and 1-wire alternators.
■ does not include a resistance wire.

Our Custom Update Series™ wiring systems are designed with the foresight and engineering to bring your electrical system up to date. They allow you the freedom and flexibility to wire your vehicle the way you want. This system is not a generic wiring harness, but is designed specifically for the GM models shown below. These wiring systems are popular with owners of fully-customized, pro-street and retro-rod/modernized vehicles.

The Custom Update Series™ wiring system will rewire the entire vehicle (head light -to- tail light).  But bear in mind that our Custom Update Series™ wiring system is for a base-model vehicle and (unless noted) does not include the wiring for options like factory air conditioning, power windows, power top, rear defogger, cruise control, etc.  The wiring for those devices should be included by the manufacturer of those options, should you decide to add them.

Modified Wiring Harness Sets for 1947-59 Chevrolet Trucks

Our Custom Design Series™ wiring harness sets are the same as our Original Design Series™ but slightly modified to accommodate some of the modern (non-factory installed) upgrades like: H.E.I. (GM High Energy Ignition), conversion to alternator and/or relocation of alternator, and more. These harnesses are popular with owners 1947-59 Chevy trucks who want to keep their truck primarily stock, yet want some of the upgrades that were not originally available when their car was manufactured.
