TECH NOTES:
This is the correct non-adhesive black vinyl tape used to wrap a wiring harness. Unlike regular electrical tape which can slime-over after a period of time, this tape does not have adhesive so it will not melt in the high-temperature engine compartment. This tape clings to itself when overlapped and will need to be tied-off with a knot at the end of the run.
In regards to tape width, there is no right or wrong tape width to use when re-taping a harness.
We offer 100 ft. rolls in 3 widths: 3/4", 1" or 1-1/4":
We recommend using the 3/4" width roll when wrapping a small diameter harness (10 wires or less, for example) as it will be easier to work with, and result in less wrinkles.
We recommend using the 1" or 1-1/4" width when wrapping a dash harness or similar large diameter harness as it will use less linear feet of tape than the 3/4" width roll.
