REPRODUCTION SWITCHES - Most of the switches in our catalog are listed as reproductions. Many are manufactured by an O.E.M. (Original Equipment Manufacturer), on the original tooling.  These switches are correct in appearance to the original switch, and will connect to an original wiring harness, fit, mount, and function exactly as original.  See our online catalog for photos and additional information.

REPLACEMENT SWITCHES - Some of the switches in our catalog are listed as replacements. Replacement switches are not necessarily manufactured by an O.E.M. (Original Equipment Manufacturer).  They are similar in appearance to an original switch, and will connect to an original wiring harness, fit, mount, and function exactly as original.  See our online catalog for photos and additional information.

Electrical switches are usually taken for granted until they don't work. After years and years of use, the original equipment back-up light switch in your vehicle may be ready to fail, probably at the most inopportune time.

As part of your restoration project, be sure to include replacing your old back-up light switch with a new, high-quality reproduction back-up light switch from Lectric Limited. It's a good investment in reliability and peace of mind. This reproduction back-up light switch exactly duplicates the original component and is precisely manufactured to ensure it fits perfectly and performs flawlessly for years to come.  PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Brake Light Switches

Malfunctioning brake lights are dangerous to you and other drivers on the road.  Everyone needs their brake lights to perform perfectly each and every time.

As you depress the brake pedal on your classic vehicle, the spring-loaded switch closes the contacts allowing current to flow through the circuit and illuminating the brake light bulbs at the rear.  Typically mounted under the dash, replacement of this switch can be done in an afternoon with basic hand tools and a little mechanical know-how. Our brake light switches are reproductions of the original and are guaranteed to connect to your original dash wiring harness, mount and function exactly as the original.  PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Courtesy Light / Dome Light Switches

Automotive Courtesy Light / Dome Light Switches
Examples of our Courtesy Light / Dome Light Switches. (click to enlarge)

Courtesy light / dome switches can fail over time. Checking your vehicles bulbs and fuses first is always a good idea first. Once checked out, most likely your courtesy light switch in the door jamb has gone bad.  This is common since these switches are continuously being punded by the closure of the doors.  Lectric Limited has the courtesy and dome light components for your that will get your interior back to bright on those dark nights.

Our courtesy light / dome light switches are reproductions of the original and are guaranteed to connect to your original dash wiring harness, mount, and function exactly as the original.  Very Important!  Some courtesy light / dome light switches were originally designed with a self-adjusting travel sleeve.  Lectric Limited's reproduction courtesy light / dome light switches are designed and manufactured the same way.  This is critical.  With out this self-adjusting sleeve, your switch can either be damaged, or can go through the inside wall of your door, upon closing the door.  Note: Not all "reproduction" courtesy light switches, sold by other companies, are made with this self-adjusting sleeve.  PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Headlight Switches

Automotive Headlight Switches

A headlight switch can fail for several reasons.  The switch itself can break, its contacts burn/pit, the rheostat that controls the dash and interior lights can burn, or the vacuum control portion of the switch (if included) can leak or become problematic.  Symptoms may include a burning electrical smell from your dash when your headlights are on, inability to dim or adjust your dash/instrument panel lights, flickering of the lights, or a poor or faulty movement of the vacuum controlled mechanical parts.

Did you know...Your headlight switch should have a circuit breaker or circuit protection built inside to protect your vehicle's wiring?  If your headlight and dash lights start to flicker after they've been on for a short time, the problem is often due to a faulty or under-amperage circuit breaker.  We have heard that even some "reproduction" headlight swithes do not have the correct value circuit breaker.  Lectric Limited's headlight switches are manufactured to the original specifications which includes a quality, correct value circuit breaker.  PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Headlight Dimmer Switches

CAPTION Switches

The headlight dimmer switch is an electrical switch used to control the vehicle’s headlight functions. For some vehicles it is a button switch located on the driver's side floor (1960s to mid-70s GM vehicles), while on other vehicles it is mounted on the steering column. The dimmer switch is primarily used to switch between the high and low beam headlights, however in many vehicles it also controls the vehicle’s interior lights as well.

Since the dimmer switch is used quite frequently, every time the vehicle’s lights are turned on, it can be susceptible to wear over time and eventually need to be replaced. Usually a bad or failing headlight dimmer switch will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential issue.   If you find it difficult to switch your headlights from high beam to low beam, or your headlights are stuck in either high or low beam position, or even if your headlights don't function at all, the problem can be a faulty headlight dimmer switch.

Lectric Limited offers reproduction headlight dimmer switches that will look, fit, function and perfectly connect to your original wiring harness!  PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Ignition Switches

Automotive Reproduction Ignition Switches

Your ignition switch allows the battery to send a high-amperage surge of electricity to the starter motor when your vehicle is being started. The ignition switch also allows you to control many of the vehicle's accessories when the car is not running. The ignition switch is usually located on the dash or steering column just behind the ignition lock cylinder.

The ignition switch has several positions that power-on different systems as the ignition key is turned. Most ignition switches will activate the electrical accessories on the first position, power on the fuel and ignition systems on the second position, and crank the engine on the third.

Most ignition switches are really 4 switches inside 1 housing (accessory position, off position, on position and crank position).  This means that there is potentially a 4 times greater probability that this switch can fail versus a regular on/off switch.   Since the ignition switch is used frequently (every time your vehicle is started), it will eventually wear out and begin to have problems. Usually a faulty ignition switch will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential problem:  1) Vehicle stalls while driving.  2) Vehicle starts then suddenly stalls.  This can be do to the ignition switch's "crank" position operating correctly, but the switch's "run" position being faulty.  3) Issues powering-on the accessories.

Lectric Limited offers several ignition switches that can be easy replaced with basic mechanical knowledge and some hand tools. Reference your vehicle's service/shop manual for complete instructions.  PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Neutral Safety Switches

Neutral Safety Switches

The neutral safety switch is a safety device.  On an automatic transmission vehicle, this switch is located inside the transmission case or in the linkage that allows the vehicle to shift gears. This switch prevents an engine from being started when the transmission is in any gear except Park or Neutral.  Manual transmission vehicles have a similar safety switch that is commonly located on the clutch pedal. This ensures that a manual transmission vehicle can't be started unless the clutch pedal is depressed. Once activated, the neutral safety switch allows electrical current to go from the ignition switch to the starter motor and ignition system which, in turn, activates the ignition process. The purpose of this series of events is to prevent damage to the starter motor, the transmission, and most importantly to prevent the vehicle from lunging forward and causing an accident.

Lectric Limited offers various reproduction and replacement neutral safety switches.   PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Neutral Safety and Backup Light Switches

Neutral Safety and Backup Light Switches
Examples of our Neutral Safety & Backup Light Switches. (click to enlarge)

As the name implies, the neutral safety and backup light switch performs two functions. As a neutral safety switch on a vehicle with an automatic transmission, it prevents the vehicle from being started unless the vehicle is in the Park or Neutral position. This switch also activated the backup lights when the vehicle is in reverse.

If your vehicle's engine won't crank in the Park or Neutral position, and/or your backup lights either stay on all the time, never turn on, or don't turn on when the vehicle is in reverse, a mis-adjusted or bad neutral safety & backup light switch can be the problem.

Lectric Limited offers various reproduction and replacement neutral safety & backup light switches.   PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Power Window Switches

Power Window Switches

If you're experiencing problems with the operation of your power windows, a common cause of the problem are the power window switches. Due to their location they get dirt, liquids and other contaminants dropped on them which can cause the switch to malfunction. Another common cause is the power window switch connector which is part of the wiring harness we manufacture, and also available as a repair item for some applications.

Lectric Limited offers various reproduction power window switches.   PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Transmission Controlled Spark (T.C.S.) Switches

The Transmission Controlled Spark (TCS) Switch is one component of the emission system.  When activated, this switch is designed to override this system until the engine temperature reaches a set temperature. This allows vacuum advance in all gears, thereby preventing stalling after starting.   Introduced in 1970, the Transmission Controlled Spark System controls exhaust emissions by eliminating vacuum advance in the lower forward gears while at operating temperature.

Lectric Limited offers various reproduction power window switches.   PRICE and BUY for your specific vehicle.

Turn Signal Switches

Turn Signal Switches

The turn signal switch performs several functions, both electrical, and mechanical. Some symptoms of a defective or faulty turn signal switch are as follows:  1) Turn signal light continues to blink when the steering wheel returns to the center position. This symptom is likely due to a failure of the mechanical portion of the turn signal switch.  2) Turn signal lights don’t continue to flash unless the turn signal lever is held down.  Similarly, this symptom is also likely due to a failure of the mechanical portion of the switch.  3) Left or right turn signals or the hazard warning lights are not operating properly.  The hazard warning flasher and turn signal flasher functions are built into a single, integrated electrical unit, potentially affecting both the turn signal and hazard flasher functions at the same time.

If you're looking to replace your turn signal switch, Lectric Limited offers various replacement and reproduction turn signal switches, some are even made on the original manufacturer's tooling.
