IMPORTANT NOTICE! This adapter should only be used in a cigarette lighter port or power plug port that is NOT energized by the ignition switch. Do not use this adapter in a port that is energized by the ignition switch. Why? Your battery will not charge and possible damage to vehicle’s electronics, and this charger, may occur.

How can you tell if your vehicle’s port is energized by the ignition switch? With the ignition switch in the OFF position (the key out), plug a device like a cell phone charger or radar detector into the port. If the device has power, then you can use that port and this adapter to charge and maintain your battery.
