To REMOVE a metal terminal from its plastic connector: 1. Begin with the plastic connector facing towards you, meaning the wire(s) are going away from you.
2. Gently insert this terminal removal tool into the small notch of the connector's terminal cavity. It should not require much force. You should feel the tool bottom out solidly in the connector approximately 1/4 inch. The idea is to depress the terminal's locking tang.
3. With the removal tool still inserted fully in the cavity, gently pivot the tool to depress the locking tang. NOTE: Some terminals have locking tangs on 2 sides. Repeat Steps 2 & 3 on the other side of the terminal, if necessary.
4. Pull on the wire to remove it. If the wire is not EASILY removed, repeat Step 3.
To RE-INSERT a metal terminal into its plastic connector: 1. Before re-inserting the wire, gently and slightly pry open the terminal's locking tang(s) that was previously depressed. You can use this tool to pry open the locking tang(s).
2. Insert the terminal into the connector. You may hear/feel a "click".
3. Pull back on the wire to make sure that it is locked-in and will not pull out of the connector.
